A recent price promotion was implemented at Checkers Great North stores. A volume offering of 4 x Portuguese Sardine variants for the reduced price of R 29.99 saw Ocean King® sales in this category increase by 493%. This growth reflects the average increase of sales out of stores over a two week period and greatly exceeded the anticipated expectations of the promotion.

Ocean King® is currently also offering a price promotion in all Shoprite Great North stores. An Ocean King New Product Development Evening was held on October 7^th at the Little Cooks Club in Rivonia to experiment, develop and sample new recipe ideas.

The evening was attended by a niche group of culinary fundi’s:

Efe, an up and coming restaurateur; Fernando, a passionate 78 year old seafood lover; Christine, the practical connoisseur who’s first priority is healthy meals; Annie, the life and soul of the party; Nuno, the conscientious planner; Sharon & Leon, with their adventurous mixture of flavours, and Evon, who’s incredible food presentation and unique blend of the most unusual ingredients kept us all hungry for more.

Besides being a social and interactive evening, a short list of new and exciting recipe ideas was developed, which are currently being scrutinized by the Ocean King Production team to consider implementing and launching in the near future.

Since one of our key focus areas is educating consumers on the numerous health benefits contained within our products, Ocean King has partnered with Little Cooks Club. The Little Cooks Club is an educational program for mothers and children aimed at introducing children to cooking and healthy nutrition.

Little Cooks Club is a franchise organisation, headed up by Christine Phillips in Rivonia.  Little Cooks Club’s focus is on getting busy moms interested in preparing quick, nutritious meals for the family while spending quality time with their children – hence a natural fit with Ocean King’s range of quality products that are ideal for including in easy, healthy meals.
