Skipjack Tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis)
Skipjack has a tender texture, with more depth of flavour than other tuna species. The size of the fish yields small loins and chunks making it excellent for canning. The fish spawn more than once per season and mature quickly – reaching reproductive age within one year. This allows the population to regenerate rapidly in the environments from which it is fished.
Ocean King®brings you 6 variants of our delicious Tuna, available in 3 different cuts:
Solid – A ‘transverse’ cut through the tuna loin, yielding a densely packed meat portion
Chunks – These cuts are made up of smaller, densely packed meat portions that broke away from the solid transverse cut.
Shredded – Actual flakes of tuna meat that broke away from the chunk portions
Ocean King® Tuna is packed in salt water or sunflower oil to accommodate your preference.
